Thank you for another fantastic November
Celebrating another successful Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month
This Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month has been full of highlights. Here are just a few.
More than Hope
This November, we asked you to stand with us to bring more than hope to people affected by pancreatic cancer. So far, over 21,000 of you have signed our petition.
Major news outlets including The Sun, Metro and Daily Echo covered our campaign. We also had coverage in many Scottish regional publications including the Falkirk Herald, Motherwell Times and Stirling Observer.
So many of you have flooded our social media pages with what more than hope means to you.
Fundraising
November has been huge for our fundraisers. Together, you have raised over £328,201!
You created a sea of purple across the country by walking, jogging or cycling 24 miles in November or taking on your own 24 themed challenge.
You’ve also held symptoms quizzes, bake sales in your workplace or purple parties with your friends and family to help raise awareness and much needed funds.
Purple Lights
As Purple Lights for pancreatic cancer draws to a close, we are in awe of all supporters who helped us put a spotlight on pancreatic cancer across the UK.
This year 195 buildings and homes lit up purple, including well known landmarks such as Rochester Cathedral in Kent, St Andrews House in Edinburgh, Belfast City Hall and Carmarthen County Hall.
St PancrEas
For the eighth year in a row, our partner, High Speed (HS1) turned a blind eye while we put the ‘e’ in St PancrEas International to raise awareness and funds on World Pancreatic Cancer Day.
This year, we raised over £2,600 in two hours!
A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers and the fabulous Popchoir, who sang a melody of pop classics and more recent favourites to bring some cheer to freezing commuters and visitors to the station. Finally, thank you to everyone who stopped by during their commute and donated.
Raising awareness
So many of you have put pancreatic cancer in the spotlight this November.
This year, our symptoms awareness publications and packs have been sent to over 6,000 health professionals and members of the public.
Not only that, you shared our symptoms awareness materials online and in your local area, hosted webinars to talk about the disease, and organised for your local landmarks to light up purple.
Making the headlines
With your help this Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, we were able to reach millions of people across the UK through the media.
Whether it was sharing your personal connection with the media to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer symptoms, explaining why your local landmark has lit up purple, or helping us promote our new Family History Checker, we couldn’t have reached so many people without you. You continue to help us stress the importance of funding research into faster diagnosis, better treatment and care to an audience who may not yet be aware of this cancer.
We featured in major news outlets throughout the month, including The Independent, BBC, The Sun, Metro and the Daily Mirror, as well as over a hundred regional publications.
